12 down & counting

It's official ~ today marks our 1 year anniversary since we have been logged in for Abigail.

12 months
52 weeks
365 days
8,760 hours
525,600 minutes ~ ~ ~ Whew!

I can honestly say I look forward to the day when I can say, "We have a daughter," rather than we are still waiting.

~Thrilled beyond words~

I cannot tell you how incredibly thrilled I am to be re-doing our I-171H ~ NOT!!!

For those who have no idea what I am talking about it's immigration approval to bring our orphaned daughter into the U.S. I think it would be fair to say that none of us expected nor anticpated that we would go through all the time, work, and let's not forget MONEY, the first time only to have to re-do it all a year later. Good news is that means we must be getting closer!!!

So, for now, I have waded through more paperwork, signed more papers and waiting to say "the check is in the mail" ~ ho hum.

Calgon...take me away!

As if ice in November and an extreme power outtage in December wasn't enough!!!

Last night in less than 2 hours it dumped 5+ inches of snow allowing the boys yet another day out of school.

Well, what does one do when they have no school/work for the day???
It's called suicide sledding!

Hike 2 blocks up hill
Take 1 long hard plastic, yet durable sled
Place 2 of your dear loved ones on top of it and push.

Now here is the part where you pray, as you pick up speeds that should be outlawed on a toy while crossing traffic streets (of course without the cars) and dodging parked cars hoping not to lose any body parts in the process. My boys call this "FUN!" I will have to admit I too had a blast doing it.

Between snowsuit on ~ snowsuit off ~ dry boots ~ wet boots ~ dry gloves ~ soaking wet gloves ~ "I'm cold" (through teeth chattering) ~ "I'm hungry" ~ "I can't feel my fingers, toes, arms, legs, nose" ~ Whew! I need a nap.

So...for now I give into the chaos, put another pot of coffee on and enjoy the day with my family in our Winter Wonderland.

Congratulations!!!

With a hoop and a holler, I shout out a big "Congrats" to those families who received their referrals.

The official statement from the CCAA is this: The CCAA has finished the placement of children for the families whose adoption application documents were registered with our office before September 27, 2005. Which means those familes that were logged in September 10-27th, 2005 have received news of their babies.

What does that mean for us ~ well, every baby matched is one baby closer to our daughter. We are hopeful!
