Summer's End

Without even looking at a calendar, I can always tell when summer is coming to an end and fall is about to begin. No, it's no special powers, premonition, or even 'luck'. It's called "Sibling Rivalry"! Ever heard of it??

It looks something like this:

You might even recognize it by the screaming, pulling, tugging, nagging, whining, bickering, pouncing, (thankfully we've grown out of the biting) etc. Yes, it's true, our family goes through periods of this, sadly to say. I know you all thought we were just one big happy "Beaver Cleaver" family! And can I just say for the record, no the gray hair was there before (what little hair I have left after pulling it all out)!

So if you have ever been witness to this in your house, how about give a little shout out and join the club.

Still a work in progress

If I can say, I am an extremely creative person living in a seriously non-creative body! Okay, what does that mean anyways. I suppose it's a nicer way of say I am "wishy-washy" when it comes to blog template design. I like it one day and then happen upon a really cool site only to return to my own site and think it blows big chunks!

So, I am committed to leaving this current design for at least the next month. No really, I'm telling the truth. I will refrain from whatever "creative" juice I may be feeling and focus it on something other. And in the meantime, you will just have to get by with what is there. And at 12:11am I realize I have spent much too much time on this dumb home page this evening and am off to bed.

I guess I have been tagged!

Okay, so I have officially been tagged by K1

So here goes:
Here are the rules:

1. Post these rules before you give the facts.
2. Players, you must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had.
3. When you are tagged you need to write your own blog-post containing your own middle name game facts.
4. At the end of your blog-post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

L - "Laughter" - I love to hear laughter (especially from my hubby & children). I love to be a part of laughter. I love to be the product of laughter. I just love laughter.

Y - "Youthfulness" Bless my middle son for suggesting this one - though I still have a few more months to live in my 30's I guess I could see myself as this! Or rather I think of myself this way, however my body says differently every morning :-)

N - "Nurturing" I think sometimes to my own detriment though. I like to take care of people who are in need; not to be mistaken for those who are just "needy" people. There is so much joy in offering of yourself to someone who needs it.

N - "New" to the world of homeschooling! I actually think neurotic is probably a more appropriate word but I just couldn't bring myself to use it. I have a 10th grader, 8th grader and 6th grader that I am attempting, starting in a week or so - prayers needed!

Okay, I will agree 10 fold with K1 that this was very difficult ~ I suppose a close second to giving birth. Now I guess the protocol is to tag 4 people who each begin with one of the letters of my middle name. Hey wait a minute, I don't even know that many bloggers, let alone those with the right initials. And I suppose it's not fair to tag those who have already tagged you right? But I think it worked that way in grade school. Suggestions?? I am actually going to have to ponder this one and rather than waiting and not posting I will post and then think about who I will tag.

Under Construction

To all my blogger friends, please bear with me as I make a few changes to the artistic edge of my blog.

You know, it's kind of like getting bored with the way your furniture is placed in your living room so one day you up and change it all only to find out your husband comes home and hates the new look. Well...I've changed my mind so many times trying to find a look I can live with for this blog and I seem to be having trouble finding one. So, I totally appreciate your patience during my "construction period".

Garage Sale-ing the Weekend Away!

I HAVE BEEN BLESSED!

Can I just tell you about what a great friend I have??

Several months ago she came to me with the idea of putting together a garage sale and all of the proceeds she wanted to donate to us for our adoption of Abigail ~ can you believe it! Even as I sit to write this I find myself without words (okay hard to believe I know).

I am so totally overwhelmed with such incredible gratitude of both my dear friend, for her amazing heart, as well as the many others who donated items for the sale. After day one we are already $300+ dollars towards Abigail's adoption expenses. One more day to go ~ I'll keep you posted.

Ahhh, VACATION!!!

It's true. We've been on vacation this past week to one of our favorite destinations for the past 4 years ~ a beach cottage along Saratoga Passage in Puget Sound. No tv or internet available ~ just pure 100% relaxation fun!

Once I get my photos developed (didn't have batteries for our digital-yikes, had to resort to old school) I will post. But here is a common site we get to see, for you to enjoy!

Happy August

Happy August 1st, 2007
Did you know August's flower is the gladiolus or poppy?

And did you know, August was originally named Sextilis in Latin, because it was the sixth month in the ancient Roman calendar, which started in March about 750 BC under Romulus.

According to the legend, the city of Rome was founded by twins Romulus & Remus. Their father was Mars, the god of war and their mother a Latin princess. The Latin King took the infants and put them in a basket. He abandoned them on the banks of the Tiber River (sounds very similar to another favorite story of baby Moses abandoned in a basket :-). The King was afraid that the twins might try to take his throne, so he left them to die.
A female wolf found the twins and fed them her own milk. Finally some shepherds rescued the twins and raised them as their own children. After growing up the boys decided to build a city in the place where they had been born. Each brother decided to rule one part of the city. They each chose a hill from which to rule the new city.
One day Romulus and Remus got into a terrible fight. Remus was angry because his brother got a larger part of the city to rule. Romulus killed Remus in this quarrel (again sounds very similar to Cain and Abel). This left Romulus's hilltop called Palatine the center of the new city. The city was name Rome after Romulus.
I bet you didn't know it's National Immunization Month either!

And of course I can't help myself, did you know you only have 145 shopping days left until Christmas 2007?

There, I did it. I did an entire post without mentioning or talking about adoption!

Wait a minute, what am I thinking! Isn't that what this blog is all about anyways, the reason I created it for loved ones and friends to keep up on all the juicy details?
Fact, there are no juicy details!
Fact, there is no current update/news- just speculation and rumors!
Fact, we have been waiting 18months to receive a referral!
Fact, we are STILL waiting...
Fact, I have good days and bad days
Fact, yes, it is rather depressing to wait this long
Fact, I am not in this 'wait' alone!

Thanks to all our family/friends who are very supportive of us during this difficult time.
